I'm disappointed no one had any suggestions. Well, I will make a few of my own. One thing I have come to discover, is that I can get a better view when I position my scope a certain way. I find when I insert the tip of the explorer into the pocket, then angle out, the rest of the explorer, about 45 degrees from the tooth surface, I can see pretty well and I instrument usually in front of the camera. Mesially and distally is a different story, much harder. I usually have to insert more horizontally then vertically with the explorer. Can't seem to get into the maxillary furcations well. This is where I was hoping to get some insight. The lower molars seem easier than the maxillary molars. However, I am just using the simulator and haven't started on real patients. I know it will be a different story!

I find that how the hand instruments are bent is critical in getting access to various areas. I have broken a few as well.

I think one of the most important parameters to obtain excellent visualization is to use the water bottle attachment and have the air pressure of the unit turned up to about 80 psi.

Maxillary furcations can be challenging.
